Description
The 3rd Annual Running For Justice Bike-A-Thon (4 routes-Century, 50, 20 and Family Ride) is to raise education, awareness and funds to prevent sex trafficking in our communities and more! We use these funds to run our business and give to other organizations who are anti-sex trafficking and related issues. We have a meal & speaker/s, Big Lake Chief of Police Joel Scharf and Investigator Berg, after the bike-a-thon to bring education and awareness. (actunited.org) Go on our website www.runningforjustice to get more details on registration and making a campaign, Feb 1st open registration!
We have 4 organizations we'll be giving proceeds to, from this Bike-a-Thon.
**Reel Hope-Kaycee (founder) makes a 2 min "reel" of every foster child, in MN. (1,000), that is waiting for adoption & brings reels to gatherings and faith communities, introducing people to these kids. They also help to get 5 families (village) around those willing to adopt, to help raise the child. Foster care are vulnerable children at very high risk for sex trafficking and related issues. ( thereelhopeproject.org )
**A.C.T. United-Chaska-Jessica-founder/lead facilitator-connects communities together in awareness, outreach, and prevention of the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children and youth. (www.actunited.org) They will be training employees, the hospital feels need it, at Fairview Northland Hospital & Clinic, this year, on sex trafficking and related issues!
**Open Doors For Youth-Elk River-Drop-in resourse center, serving youth 16-24, who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Homeless youth are at high risk for being sex trafficked, sexually exploited, and more. 2017 estimated reports are 1/7 runaway or homeless kids, are sex trafficked but it could easily be higher
**Boys and Girls Club-Elk River-enable all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. (info@bgclubsnorthstar.org)
